Services provided on retainer
For a fixed cost per month, Healthcare Liaison would provide:

On-site services which include consultations to employees on specific situations or brief workshops on healthcare topics relevant to the workplace.

Off-site services which include home, hospital or office-based consultations with your employees and their families, and coordination of care with the larger healthcare team.

On an hourly “not to exceed” basis
Corporations contract on an hourly basis for the month with a “not to exceed” clause on the number of billable hours.
In this model, consultations are provided at either the workplace, employee’s home or a hospital.

On a project basis
As special projects involving healthcare issues arise, Healthcare Liaison will negotiate a rate for a defined project completed during a specified timeframe.

Consultation Examples

Employee with a new baby
An employee's newborn baby is in the neonatal intensive care unit at the hospital. The family is overwhelmed by the stress, the technology and the uncertainty of their baby's health. Your employee is unable to work.

Interventions: Meet with the family and the entire healthcare team; interpret medical information, assist the family in formulating questions. Support the family at the hospital and at home, answering questions, ensuring good communication with the healthcare team. If there are treatment choices that need to be made, working with the family to assist them with their decision-making. Follow-up home visits after the baby is discharged.

Major Corporate Benefit: The employee's stress level is reduced and they are able to return to work sooner. The employee feels supported by the employer, leading to increased retention.

CEO's father has Alzheimer's Disease
Your CEO’s father has end-stage Alzheimer's Disease and is in an independent living facility. His wife provides all of his care. He falls and is brought to the hospital emergency room. The facility staff where they live say they do not feel he qualifies for independent living any longer and think he should move to a nursing home.

Intervention: Meet with physician in the emergency room and request a referral for a Home Health nursing assessment and a physical therapy assessment. Explain possible attendant care options and assist with ordering of medical equipment. Consult with the nurse and physical therapist. Maintain contact with the facility, all family members involved and meet with them to discuss hospice options. Monitor until hospice assumes care.
